The PowerPath project aims to maximise off-grid energy output for rural communities through the delivery of an interconnected microgrid modules featuring remote monitoring and metering for grid stabilisation, along with an innovative solar panel coating that will allow 20-25% increased performance.
Innovation pillars for the project are:
- A smart direct current (DC)-DC power converter
- A ‘state-of-charge’ estimation method
- An Internet of Things (IoT) solution for optimised real-time remote monitoring of the village-wide balancing DC microgrid by local operators in Madagascar, where the solution is deployed
- An innovative, low-cost solar coating material aimed to improve photovoltaic production in tropical environments
In the following weeks, we will explore the project’s innovation pillars in further detail. Watch this space for more.
